In response to the current economic climate, the Minister for Planning and Environment issued a Statement dated 27 January 2009 confirming that planning applications will be ’fast tracked’ by the Planning and Environment Department where applicants can demonstrate:
- Intent to commence the construction phase within three months of receiving planning permission; and
- Potential local benefits, for example supporting and maintaining local employment and local business
Applications must be supported by a ’fast track statement’ which must be submitted in the format provided by the Planning and Environment Department.
Developers, land owners, landlords and tenants looking to carry out works for which planning permission is required may be able to benefit from the ’fast track’ planning application procedure where the necessary conditions can be demonstrated.
