Claire joined Ogier in November 2015 to develop a specialist planning, environment, construction and property law team across the Channel Islands and is based out of Ogier’s Guernsey office.
She joined Ogier from London firm Eversheds, where she was a Principal Associate in the National Planning and Infrastructure Consenting Team specialising in planning and environment law advising on all contentious and non-contentious aspects of consenting of major infrastructure projects under the Planning Act 2008 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990, including public consultation, environmental impact assessment, compulsory purchase and appeals.
Claire previously worked in Guernsey for a number of years acting for Guernsey and Channel Islands developers, architects, real estate investors and corporate occupiers. Her experience at Spicer & Partners included ∙ comprehensive strategic advice on policy allocations and zoning, viability, and bringing development sites forward, legal robustness health checking of planning applications (including Environmental Impact Assessment) and committee reports to guard against legal challenge, negotiating and drafting planning agreements and planning covenants, appealing or challenging decisions, or defending appeals and challenges, in the Courts and heritage issues including listed buildings and conservation areas advice.
Claire’s practice is pan-Island and, with specialisms that include Health and Safety, her expertise enhances Ogier’s Local Legal Services capability across the Channel Islands. As well as acting for local businesses in all sectors, private clients and individuals in the Channel Islands, Ogier’s Property Law Group works closely with intermediaries and government bodies in relation to inward investment to the Islands.
