Nicholas Le Poidevin

Nicholas has extensive knowledge of the Guernsey property market having spent his entire career working as a conveyancer. He deals with all conveyancing aspects in relation to the sale and purchase of residential and commercial property.

Prior to joining Ogier in 2020 Nicholas was employed in the conveyancing department of another local law firm where he worked for almost 40 years and, as such, is currently the longest serving conveyancer in Guernsey.

During his career, Nicholas has been involved in a broad range of matters including the sale and purchase of a number of prominent properties in Guernsey. The most notable being the sale of 90 apartments within the La Charroterie Mills development in St Peter Port, 77 of which were conveyed in a single day. This was, and remains, the largest number of property transactions relating to a single development completed in one day. Due to the large volume of transactions a special afternoon sitting of the Conveyancing Court had to be convened, something which had not occurred previously and has not been repeated since.

Nicholas specialises in the conveyancing of residential and commercial properties in Guernsey as well as the sale and purchase of properties in Alderney. This includes preparing schedules for developers in relation to new estates and also in relation to the division of existing buildings into apartments.

He is recognised for his friendly and efficient manner and his methodical and hands-on approach to conveyancing. Accuracy in the drafting of legal documents is something that is of particular importance to him.

In the past he was also involved in the preparation of leases, sub-leases, assignments of lease and share sale agreements.

As well as working with clients, he has also mentored a number of trainee conveyancers.
