Top tier ranking for Ogier property team

Ogier's top tier property practice has retained its leading position among Jersey law firms according to the new edition of the Legal 500.

The ‘very strong personnel’ at Ogier ‘always look after their clients well and offer wise counsel’, says the guide's 2016 UK edition, which was launched this week.

And within just eight months of launching, Ogier's commercial property team in Guernsey has been recognised among the leading practices in Guernsey.

Ogier's Channel Islands property group is led by the ‘very approachable and vastly knowledgeable’ Jonathan Hughes says the Legal 500. Julie Melia is ‘excellent with clients’ and ‘consistently provides sound advice’. Managing associate Katharine Marshall is ‘friendly and prompt’ and consultant Chris Renouf is ‘highly experienced’.

The Legal 500's guide to UK and Channel Island law firms recommends Ogier's head of property in Guernsey Martyn Baudains, citing client comment feedback  that he is ‘calm and efficient’. Claire Smith, who joined the firm from Eversheds LLP as a senior planning and construction law specialist is also noted.

Ogier’s property team acts for buyers, sellers, developers, funders, landlords and tenants providing advice on the purchase, development, sale and lease of commercial and residential properties located in Jersey. It regularly works on the largest and most complex commercial property transactions in Jersey and Guernsey, as well as advising on the relocation of professionals, their businesses and their families to the Channel Islands.

Jonathan Hughes said: “Clients value our commercial approach, speed of response and pragmatism. We’re also highly recommended by local agents, banks and the people we have helped to buy, sell and finance their residential property, and we’re very pleased to see that has been reflected in the latest rankings by the Legal 500.”
