Anthony specialises in all aspects of non-contentious and semi-contentious private trust and estate matters, wealth structuring for high net worth individuals, institutional trustees and family offices together with all related regulatory work and cross-border succession matters. He has particular expertise in the use of Cayman foundation companies and obtaining grants of probate, letters of administration or resealing foreign grants in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands.
Background and experience
Anthony advises trustees, settlors, founders, beneficiaries, protectors, enforcers and supervisors on all aspects of non-contentious and semi-contentious trust law including complex trust structures for estate planning and asset protection purposes, the use of STAR trusts in investment fund structures, establishment of private trust companies (PTCs), Cayman foundation companies and ongoing regulatory compliance. Anthony also advises executors, beneficiaries and onshore counsel in relation to applications for grants of probate and letters of administration in deceased estates before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and resealing foreign grants, as well as drafting wills specifically tailored for assets located in the Cayman Islands such as shares in Cayman Islands companies.
Before joining Ogier in 2017, Anthony was senior counsel in the Trusts Group of another law firm in the Cayman Islands for several years. Prior to that, Anthony was a solicitor in the Revenue & Estates Group at Minter Ellison in Brisbane, Australia practising exclusively in the areas of estate planning and administration, trusts and structuring.
Anthony is the current Chair of the Cayman Islands Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has been a long serving member of Council for many years. He also served as Student Liaison Officer for the jurisdiction. Anthony is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA).
Anthony is a notary public in and for the Cayman Islands.
Anthony received his Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) and Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia in 2001 and the post graduate qualification of Graduate Certificate in Law in Estate Planning and associated areas of law also from QUT in 2005. Anthony became a full member of STEP in Queensland, Australia receiving his TEP in 2004.
